Overview
Our string instructors will teach all styles of music, from learning to play by ear to reading music. If you want to play classical music or the fiddle, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval. Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Our violin teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children and teens and adults!
Your child will change instruments as they grow. Our teachers will help you choose the right size violin for you!

We teach all styles from classical, rock, pop, jazz, country, and blues.
How qualified are your violin instructors?
Our violin faculty are graduates of such prestigious institutions as New York University, Indiana University, the Berklee College of Music, Oxford University, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, South Carolina Governors School for the Arts, the Atlanta Guitar Institute and Columbia College. Many have toured the US and Europe, and bring over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons.
What will I learn in violin lessons at JBSOM?
Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and into- nation, but also have their favorite songs incorporated into the lessons so they finish with their favorite piece. Our violin teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student’s love of the violin.
How long does it take to learn how to play the violin?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn to play. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
